Child Seat Safety Check
From the Post & Courier
Statistics show that up to 80 percent of child safety seats are installed or used incorrectly, and children who are incorrectly restrained are more than 3.5 times more likely to be seriously injured in a collision than those who are correctly restrained.
The Little Gym in Summerville is holding a free safety seat inspection for the public from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday FEBRUARY 28 (this was moved from 2/14), weather permitting. No appointments are necessary.
Inspections will take about 20 minutes per seat and will be performed by certified child passenger safety technicians from the S.C. Highway Patrol and Summerville Fire Department.
The Little Gym is at 205 Grandview Drive, off the Berlin G. Myers Parkway and near the Home Depot in Summerville. Call 851-2950 or visit www.tlgsummerville.com

March Benevolence Project
We are doing a benevolence project in the month of March.
The Dream Center in North Charleston is doing a "Cinderella Day" on March 7th.
This is for high school girls in the North Charleston area who may need help with Prom dresses, etc. There will be sessions to teach them how to do their hair, make-up and other beauty tips to get ready for prom. When they leave, they are able to pick out a dress and shoes (free of charge) to wear on the big day.
We will be collecting dresses for this event at our March meeting. So, please bring "dressy/prom type dresses" and/or shoes to the March meeting to contribute. We all have a few that we will never fit into anymore post baby! :)
Dresses MUST be brought to the March meeting because they are doing the Cinderella Day the following Saturday.

Night MOPS
Hey, Ladies! Welcome to the first official year of Night MOPS! The steering team has been planning some exciting events for the upcoming year, and we can't wait to see all of you at the first meeting in September.
The MOPS International theme for 2008-09 is Adventures in Mothering. Don't you feel that every day as a mother - whether you have one child or five - is an adventure all by itself? So, after first learning about this year's theme, I was confident that we would all be able to identify in some way or another. This theme will equip us to learn more about ourselves as we go through the adventure of motherhood - even as the daily mom life streches us physically, emotionally and spiritually.
The metaphor for Adventures in Mothering is an amusement park. With the sights, sounds, taste and smells of the amusement park, motherhood might feel like a sensory overlaod. But our MOPS group has some exciting meetings planned that will strengthen us as mothers spiritually and emotionally.
The theme verse for Adventures in Mothering is Ephesians 3:18: "...how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." The dimensions of this verse express how God is with us in our mothering adventure and gives us hope. God's love is big enough for the magnitude of the adventure, and I find comfort in knowing that God is with us always as we embark on this year's adventure together! May God's peace and presence be in your minds and hearts as you "adventure" in motherhood this year.

About MOPS @ Crossroads
Do you think of spaghetti as a finger food? Do you excuse yourself in a room full of adults to use the "potty"? Do you find yourself singing the theme song to children's cartoons as you go about your day? If so, then MOPS is for you!
Mothers Of Preschoolers - MOPS - exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban, and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single, and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.
MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups like this one that provide a caring atmosphere for today’s mother of young children. MOPS also encourages and supports mom through resources such as publications, their web site, and the MOPS International Membership.
Locally, our MOPS group meets the 1st Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:30 AM during the school year at Crossroads Community Church in Summerville, SC. Crossroads is located at 505 Gahagan Road in Summerville.
Due to space limitations in our childcare, please contact before attending. You can email coordinators AT mopscrossroads.org
